Electric Floor Heating Under Tile

Tile is the most common surface for electric radiant floor heating — and the best match. Tile and stone conduct heat efficiently, warming up quickly and retaining heat well once the system reaches temperature. Heatwave mats install directly in the same thinset layer used to set the tile, making installation a natural part of any tile floor project.

Heatwave is ETL listed for wet locations, making it code-compliant for bathroom tile, kitchen tile, and any other wet area. The 12W/sq ft heating output is well-matched to tile’s thermal mass. At about 1/8″ thick, the system adds minimal height under the tile layer.

For most tile projects, a Heatwave Mat Kit is the simplest choice — roll out the adhesive-backed mat, embed in thinset, and set tile on top as normal. For irregular tile layouts, a cable kit allows a fully custom installation pattern.
