Electric Floor Heating Under Laminate Flooring

Most modern laminate flooring products are rated for use over radiant floor heating, making laminate + Heatwave a popular and affordable combination. Heatwave embeds in a cement-based compound beneath the laminate’s underlayment, providing even, consistent warmth without hot spots.

One advantage of laminate over tile: laminate floors are typically floating installations, which means they can be installed over a Heatwave system without mortar — the system is embedded in self-leveling compound and the laminate floats on top. This makes installation somewhat faster than tile applications.

Check your laminate manufacturer’s maximum floor temperature rating (typically 80–85°F) and use a floor sensor thermostat to stay within limits. Heatwave’s Deluxe and Premium kits include a programmable Wi-Fi thermostat with floor sensor.
